Welcome to Pennine Cropshare

Pennine Cropshare is a not for profit Veg Bag Scheme based in Hebden Bridge.  We deliver nature-friendly and organic veg, fruit, eggs, bread, and other ethical food produce weekly to convenient collection points in Calderdale and East Lancashire.  

At Pennine Cropshare we celebrate seasonal eating. We believe produce harvested and grown locally in West Yorkshire, Lancashire and the UK, is fresher, tastier, and better for the environment.  The contents of our Fruit and Veg Bags will change throughout the year to reflect what’s growing on UK farms.  

We are an established local business who have been “Growing the Vegetable Revolution” for nearly 15 years now. We’ve been awarded Better Food Trader status, as a recognised food business trading for social purpose not to maximise profit.  We are committed to working towards a better food system for people and the planet.  

How does our scheme work?

You can subscribe to Pennine Cropshare and receive a weekly (or fortnightly) Veg Bag.  Our Veg Bags come in five different sizes to suit your household appetite, cooking habits and budget.  You can add a Fruit Bag, Pasture Raised Eggs and Organic Bread to your order too.  We have great relationships with ethical food traders and market gardeners as local as Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Cornholme.  We know our veg and what’s in season, so we choose what produce goes in your veg and fruit bags, taking the difficult shopping decisions out of your hands.  We create the perfect seasonal veg bags that don’t cost the earth.  

At Cropshare we are passionate about healthy and affordable home cooking, so we provide you with a weekly newsletter that has great tips about how to cook your seasonal food.  Being part of Pennine Cropshare is a great, feel good, tasty way to make positive consumer choices that contribute towards a brighter future.

Orders are delivered to convenient collection points or Veg Sheds in Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, Todmorden, Colne, Trawden, Burnley, Padiham, Barrowford, Worsthorne and Rossendale.  We are always on the lookout for new collection hubs to extend our deliveries.

We prioritise local growers and organic wholesalers in the North, but sometimes source from Europe in order to provide you with variety, and keep it affordable. This is particularly apparent during the ‘Hungry Gap’ when the UK winter crops have finished and we’re waiting for the summer season to become bountiful.  Most of our fruit and veg is from Certified Organic Farms, the only exception to this is when we source produce from our small, super-local growers and farmers who grow using regenerative, nature-friendly methods, without using any pesticides or chemical fertilisers.
